WWE Fatal Four Way Review and Results

WWE Championship - Mingo
WWE Championship - Mingo
So far tonight the World Title has changed hands in what's been a less than thrilling pay per view, but still to come is the WWE Championship match.

Fatal Four Way has been disappointing so far but the second half sees two titles on the line and a 6 person tag match.

The Miz takes the United States Championship and the Hart Dynasty defeat the Usos

The second half kicks off with R-Truth defending his United States Championship against The Miz. Despite there being a title on the line this really seemed like a filler match. The early part was dominated by Truth much to the delight of the fans who were berating The Miz. Miz managed to knock Truth off the apron and he stays outside the ring for a 9 count. The match becomes more balanced after this with Truth hitting the Flatliner and Miz getting a backbreaker and neckbreaker but both only managing a two count. More two counts follow as the match really begins to drag on. The match ends with no great excitement or finesse as Miz counters Truth’s roll up for one of his own and the win. This match was at best boring and neither opponent showed any great skill at all, this was not a pay per view quality bout and looked as if it was thrown together at the last minute. There’s not really much to be said about the next bout either, The Hart Dynasty vs. The Usos and Tamina. This match is very back and forth but The Usos do get an a few impressive moves in but not enough to excite the live audience who are waiting on the main event. The Usos dominate much of the match; however when the women are tagged in Natalya starts to take down Tamina. Tamina manages to hit the Samoan drop but misses with the big splash; Natalya then hits her with a spinning closeline for the win. There was potential here shown by the Usos and the women looked much better than the other Divas, however it really wasn’t an exciting match.

Sheamus, the New WWE Champion

Tonight’s main event sees John Cena take on Edge, Randy Orton and Sheamus. This should be an entertaining bout but judging by how tonight has gone so far I’m not going to get my hopes up. The match begins with both Edge and Sheamus being thrown out of the ring so Orton and Cena can go at it. Orton tries to get an early RKO in but is dragged to the outside by Edge. Sheamus now punches Cena in the corner and gets an assist from Edge; with Cena down Sheamus does some posing and is caught in a roll up by Edge for a two count. So far the match has pretty balanced with no one Superstar dominating. Cena and Sheamus end up having a good exchange which sees Cena missing an AA and Sheamus hitting the Irish Curse. When Cena and Edge are alone in the ring Cena gets Edge with the Five Knuckle Shuffle before Randy Orton takes him out. Orton then takes down Edge before Sheamus re-enters the ring. This match certainly looks better planned than the previous Championship match. Cena gets Edge in the STFU in the centre of the ring; it looks as if Edge might tap before Sheamus breaks it up. Randy Orton goes on to catch Cena in the RKO and gets close to a three count before Sheamus stops the referee. Edge then lands a spear on Orton but once again Sheamus breaks up any pin attempt. As the action moves outside the ring Sheamus is thrown into the announce table by Orton. At this point we see the NXT wrestlers backstage attacking the Raw Superstars. Back in the ring Cena is left alone having seen what happened backstage. The NXT members charge towards the ring and attack Cena and then Edge. With Edge occupied outside the ring and Cena having been attacked Sheamus sneaks in a cover and gets a three count becoming the new WWE Champion. With the match over the NXT members continue to assault Cena and then go after the new Champion chasing him backstage. As the pay per view ends we see Cena, Orton and Edge all laying hurt at the hands of the NXT members. This was a pretty entertaining match as would be expected from these four Superstars. I was glad to see Sheamus win and I do believe he is a worthy champion; however, it is unfortunate he didn't get a clean win. Going into tonight the big storyline really was the emergence of NXT, and as no NXT members were in action tonight the WWE Championship match didn’t seem to have the usual heat behind it. It will be interesting to see how next month’s Money in the Bank plays out as the countdown to Summerslam begins. Hopefully the NXT storyline will be handled properly and gain more momentum and by Summerslam we should see the return of both Triple H and Undertaker to make the title race more interesting.
